We are fortunate in the Santa Barbara area to have a bevy of incredibly talented architects. As a Santa Barbara and Montecito real estate agent, I often see their work firsthand. A few years ago, I sold a home across the street from an intriguing project that caught my eye. A contemporary take on the mid-century vernacular of the notable California architects Richard Neutra, A. Quincy Jones, Pierre Koenig, Raphael Soriano, Rudolph Schindler, and a whole host of others, was being constructed. One of the sub-contractors kindly invited me in for a look. As I stepped into a glass pavilion, I immediately experienced the visceral of knowing when a house is “right.” This is usually the result of a combination of correct siting on the lot, harmoniously blended room scales, and intrinsic livability. This house had it, along with gorgeous and thoughtful high-end finishes.

The home was designed by Anacapa Architecture lead by principal, Dan Weber. When I returned to my office that day, I immediately looked up the firm to see their other work and found that their other projects were exciting, creative, and beautiful as well. They create a variety of interesting projects from residential to Airstream Trailer Parks to commercial interiors such as Santa Barbara’s Impact Hub. Below are some project photos.
